Football poster | The Telstar was the first ball to showcase the iconic hexagon and pentagon design—32 hand-stitched panels featuring 12 black pentagons and 20 white hexagons. Today, it’s the universal image of a football—just look at your emojis to see its influence. Originally created to help fans spot the ball clearly on black-and-white TV screens, it quickly became the true star of the broadcast. Cleverly named, too—Telstar, short for Television Star.
